Los San Francisco 49ers anunciaron que han contratado por dos aos al mariscal Mac Jones. An es joven con 26 aos de edad. Jones originalmente lleg a la NFL cuando los New England Patriots lo reclutaron de la universidad de Alabama con el pick 15 en la primera ronda del NFL Draft 2021. Con New England estuvo tres aos y la temporada pasada se fue con los Jacksonville Jaguars. Su ao de novato jug los 17 partidos de titular con los Patriots completando el 68% de sus pases, lanzando para 3,801 yardas y 22 touchdowns. Sufri 13 intercepciones. En los siguientes aos su produccin vino a menos.
Para un mariscal elegido en primera ronda del draft siempre ser difcil establecerse en la NFL porque normalmente llegar a un equipo que an no cuenta con todas las armas necesarias para que ese joven tenga xito. Jones precisamente pas por ese difcil proceso, pero en los 49ers su papel ser solidificarse como el suplente deBrock Purdy. Eso le dar la oportunidad de aprender de Purdy y adems de alguien como el entrenador en jefe de San Francisco, Kyle Shanahan, quien con su buena trayectoria como una de las mentes ofensivas ms brillantes de la liga, puede ayudar a Jones a explotar todo ese potencial que mostr en el futbol americano colegial con Alabama y que provocaron que fuera un mariscal elegido en primera ronda en el draft de la NFL. Adems, Mick Lombardi, quien ahora es el entrenador de quarterbacks en los 49ers, conoce muy de cerca a Jones porque Lombardi era el entrenador de los receptores abiertos de los Patriots en 2021, precisamente el ao en que New England reclut en el draft a Jones.
