"Fred's leadership is exemplary and his approach to his craft is contagious," said President of Football Operations and General Manager John Lynch. "Fred sets the tone for our entire team with the consistency, speed and physicality with which he plays. Off the field, his passion, energy, and professionalism are second to none and truly embody what it means to be a Niner. We are extremely proud to get this extension done and lock Fred in for the future."

Warner (6-3, 240) was originally drafted by the 49ers in the third round (70th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. Throughout his seven-year career (2018-24), he has started in all 115 games he has appeared in and registered 896 tackles, 10.0 sacks, 53 passes defensed, 10 interceptions (two returned for a touchdown), 15 forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries. He has also started in 12 postseason contests and recorded 97 tackles, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

A four-time Associated Press First-Team All-Pro (2020, 2022-24) and Pro Bowl selection (2021, 2023-25), Warner has led the 49ers in total tackles in each season of his career and ranks second in franchise history in total tackles with 896 (LB Patrick Willis 950). He also ranks tied for first in passes defensed (53) and second in forced fumbles (15) among linebackers in franchise history. With 10.0 sacks and 10 interceptions, he is just the second player in franchise history to register 10.0-or-more sacks and 10-or-more interceptions in a career (LB Keena Turner). He is also one of two players since at least 2000 to register 115-or-more tackles in each of their first seven NFL seasons (LB Roquan Smith, Bal.). Since 2021, Warner is one of three players to register 130-or-more tackles in each of the previous four seasons (LB Roquan Smith, Bal.; LB Bobby Wagner, Was.).

In 2024, Warner started in 17 games and recorded 131 tackles, 1.0 sack, seven passes defensed, two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and four forced fumbles. In addition, Warner was the recipient of the team's Bill Walsh Award for the third time in his career (2020 & 2022) and, for the second consecutive year, the Matt Hazeltine Iron Man Award. The Bill Walsh Award is voted on by the coaching staff and is given to the 49er who has best represented the standard of professional excellence established by Walsh. The Matt Hazeltine Iron Man Award is given annually to the most courageous and inspirational defensive player. In 2020, Warner was the recipient of the team's Len Eshmont Award, the 49ers most prestigious annual honor, which is given each year to the 49ers player who best exemplifies the "inspirational and courageous play" of Len Eshmont, who was a member of the original 1946 49ers team.
